One of my favorite hobbies is water color painting, but before I ever attempted to paint, I spent most of my life drawing for fun. I never really used any special tools to do it, so most of my sketches were done on pieces of cardboard, cocktail napkins, and scraps of paper. I never felt very skilled at my ability to draw, so never got too carried away with putting high value on the products of what I felt was no more than "doodleling"!
The sketch at the left I did while serving with the U.S. Army in Vietnam back in 1967 - 68. I did it while stationed with the 44th EOD at the Base Camp near Tay Ninh, South Vietnam. The mountain in the background is called Nui Ba Dinh (Black Virgin Mountain). It was done on the bottom of a cardboard candy box!
I found it a few years back in my "Nostagia Box", which is littered with notes, letters, and sketches from 40 to 50 years ago.
